This course is an illustrated survey of the art and archaeology of the ancient Greek world from the Bronze Age to Hellenistic times. The geographical focus of the course is Greece and Asia Minor. Topics in architecture, painting, ceramics, sculpture and the minor arts examine problems of context, chronology, technology and style. Assigned readings illuminate important discoveries, field techniques, and theoretical and methodological debates in the disciplines of art history and archaeology.
