Fulfills Literature, Elementary
In Classical Mythology we study literature from Greco-Roman antiquity that tells stories about gods and humans, the world they lived in, and how they interacted. We will examine primary texts including Homer’s Odyssey, tragedies by Aeschylus and Euripides, and Ovid’s Metamorphoses. In addition to becoming familiar with the myths of many famous (and some not-so-famous) characters, such as Zeus, Athena, Persephone, Hercules, and Achilles, we will explore how succeeding generations have continually reinterpreted Greco-Roman myth to wrestle with complex problems.
