The Department of Classical and Ancient Near Eastern Studies offers cultural and language instruction in ancient Greek, Latin, and Biblical Hebrew.  Visit our Department overview to learn more.

Undergraduates can choose from three majors and a certificate.  Learn all about the requirements for each.

Classical Humanities 

  • a combination of courses in ancient culture and the Greek, Latin, and Hebrew languages


  • a combination of Greek and Latin, with a primary emphasis on one of these languages

Latin (for placement, contact Toni Landis:

  • emphasis solely on the study of Latin

Classical Studies certificate

  • courses in ancient culture, with no language study required
