Dr. Chontel Syfox, Battling Demons and Disease: Rewriting Noah’s Post-Flood Legacy

Join us for this lecture featuring Dr. Chontel Syfox, currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Religion at Luther College.
The talk is titled, “Battling Demons and Disease: Rewriting Noah’s Post-Flood Legacy.”
Preserved in the Bible, and popularized by art, Hollywood blockbusters, and children’s songs the tradition regarding Noah’s antediluvian ark-building talent is well-known. This talk will explore the origins and development of the rarely attested tradition of Noah as the father of medical knowledge in Second Temple Judaism.
CANES will host a reception prior to the event, beginning at 4:30pm at the University Club.
